The internet is the greatest research tool ever invented.  You can discover everything you need to know about different mortgage deals, before you even speak to anyone.  Learn about interest only, fixed rate, adjustable rate mortgages etc.

Find out what type of deal suits your circumstances. Use mortgage calculators to work out monthly payments, and how much you can afford.

Many lenders let you fill in forms online, or download forms ready to fill-in on paper.  Eventually though, you'll need to sign a paper form before you get your loan !  Also, you'll usually have to verify what you've put on your application form.

So be sure to fill in information correctly.  You'll probably have to send in original copies of payslips, copies of other documents required to validate your online mortgage application.

The internet is a useful tool to research mortgages, but you always have to finish the process offline.  Also, it's worth calling some brokers, or speaking to your bank.  Occasionally, though rarely, there's a special deal that isn't available online !
